75th Anniversary Celebration

of the founding of the Inter-Cooperative Council

In the fall of 1937, the Michigan Socialist House, the Wolverine Dining Cooperative, the Rochdale Cooperative House, and the Girls’Cooperative House joined together to found the Campus Cooperative Council. From this premier effort to work together for the common good came all that we have today.

Plan now to join with us on October 5-7, 2012

to celebrate our history, our heritage, and our future!

James R. Jones Inducted Into The National Cooperative Hall of Fame

In May of 2009, Jim Jones was inducted into the National Cooperative Hall of Fame in Washington, D.C. Jim was

Executive Director of the Inter-Cooperative Council from

1984-1999. Currently, he is the Senior Director of Development and Asset Management for North American Students of Cooperation (NASCO). Jones has devoted 40 years to

preserving and expanding the cooperative movement and has served as a trusted educator, mentor and developer.

Over the years he has created dozens of new cooperatives, inspired thousands of young people to become involved with cooperatives, and helped establish several national initiatives such as NASCO Properties and the Campus Cooperative Development Corporation. 2007 - ICC Founders inducted to NASCO Hall of Fame

At the 2007 NASCO Institute (November 2-4), the Founders of Michigan Socialist House were inducted into the NASCO Hall of Fame. This was a very exciting moment for ICC members, both past and present, because the founding of Mich House marks the beginning of student housing cooperation in North America. ICC's General Manager Eric Lipson, and '07-'08 President Lynn Eckert accepted the plaque commemorating the induction on behalf of the founders (left).
