Welcome to the Education Webpage!
Tthe ICC Education Committee, which is composed of members and staff, manages an ongoing education and training program for the benefit of our members. The ICC established the Education Committee and its programs based on the fifth Co-op Principle: "Cooperatives provide education and training for their members, elected representatives, managers, and employees so they can contribute effectively to the development of their cooperatives. They inform the general public—particularly young people and opinion leaders—about the nature and benefits of cooperation."
The purpose of our education and training program is to promote or give:
- A general understanding of the ICC
- Information to facilitate operations and decisions
- Analysis and information that will stimulate thought
- A sense of spirit and pride
- A sense of history and tradition
- An awareness of the larger co-op movement
Our activities have a 3-fold goal:
- Providing information to members for successfully managing their houses. We do this primarily through our program of trainings.
- Enhancing members’ skills for living in a co-op community. The SHRT, Living Well Team, and Ombudsperson assist in
community-building.
- Broadening members’ understanding of the co-operative movement and co-op principles and practices.
These principles make co-
operatives different from living under landlords. Our aim is to continually assist members in gaining the necessary knowledge
and skills to run their houses and have positive, fun, and memorable experiences in the ICC.
