Karl D. Gregory Cooperative House

Our house is named after Karl D. Gregory, an alumnus of Nakamura House, who donated $20,000 to the ICC to make the purchase of the house possible. Dr. Gregory has been a long standing activist for racial equality, civil and human rights. He has held various positions and appointments in the Federal Government under Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Ford, Carter, and Reagan, and is currently a Professor of Economics at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.

The house was built as the Tau Gamma Nu fraternity house, its design functions nicely after the house subcommed to the power of cooperation. There are large common areas and the hallways are wide enough to drive a car through (not that we ever would).

Amenities: Plenty of parking spaces in our own lot, TV/DVD player in basement common room (limited number of channels), house computer, DSL internet access in every room, wireless DSL throughout the house, New York Times delivered daily, indoor bicycle rack, picnic table on our front porch, and a bunch of GUFF laundry detergent!

We have house meetings every two weeks and are one of the few houses to still run on a modified consensus system for decision-making, i.e., for an important house decision to be made, 85% of our members must agree. Call to arrange to join us for dinner & get to know the house and its members! Gregory House is a great place to live, filled with great people. It's nice to go home after class and actually have a home to go to. Stop by and visit us!

Welcome to Gregory House! Here is our lobby and the first thing you see when you walk through our doors. Our living room is incredubly spacious. Our pillows and sofas offer our members ample room to laze around, night or day! We also have a public computer to use with internet access. The living room is also decorated with plants, which thrive on the large amount of sunlight that enters the room.
Here is where our members congregate for dinner. We cook dinners 6 nights a week during the school year and this is a great time for our house to come together and socialize. Here is our part of our kitchen. We'll have everything you need to prepare a delicious meal! Here is another corner of the kitchen. Our dish sanitizer ensures that all dishes, cups and silverware come out clean and ready to use.
We also have lots of fridge space and cooking utensils. In our basement is our tv room, which comes with the house's very own Nintendo 64. Whatever game you can think of, we probably have it!
Upstairs are our rooms, separated by spacious hallways. An example of one of our bathrooms... ...and shower stalls.
Our indoor bikerack comes in very handy during the winter and rainy days. We also have a pair of washers and dryers. Gregory is also has 10 off-street parking lots.

Our porch gives our members the opporunity to enjoy the sun and BBQ whenever they wish.

Our 2007-2008 house members during a house BBQ. Sometimes we can be quite crazy...see!?
Once a semester during our work holidays, our members work hard to clean our home to ensure we live in an amazing home! Cleaning may sometimes seem like a chore, but we always make sure we have fun doing it!

We also know how to chill! So give us a call or email us or visit www.icc.coop for more information!
